This was a successful planning application for what was proposed as a new Passivhaus to replace an existing tack barn.
The dwelling is conceived as a simple barn form with accommodation placed within the pitch of the roof. Subtly responding to the slope of the side the internal layout is split between a double height open plan living area and the bedrooms which are arranged over the two floors.
The proposals utilise a limited palate of materials which allow the building to be sensitively integrated into the landscape. The materials are robust and reference both agricultural buildings and the adjacent woodland.
